sboasia Spanish soccer club Barcelona set a La Liga record Saturday with its 39th consecutive game without a loss as it rebounded from its humbling Champions League ouster by defeating visiting Valencia, 2-1, to continue its march to the domestic league title. Philippe Coutinho set up Luis Suarez (15th minute) and Samuel Umtiti (51st) for goals as Barcelona established the milestone four days after squandering a 4-1 first-leg advantage by losing, 3-0, at Roma and failing to reach Europe’s final four for the third year in a row. Real Sociedad’s mark of 38 straight league games without a loss had stood since 1980. Barcelona is undefeated through 32 games this season after going unbeaten in its final seven games last season. Barcelona has a 14-point lead over second-place Atletico Madrid.

Manchester City closes in on EPL title
First-half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Ilkay Gundogan and a Raheem Sterling strike after the break led Manchester City to a 3-1 win at Tottenham, leaving the club on the verge of clinching the English Premier League title. Manchester City will clinch its third league crown since 2012 if Manchester United fails to beat West Bromwich Albion on Sunday or loses to Bournemouth on Wednesday. Regardless of United’s results, City will take the title by beating Swansea on April 22 . . . Two days after South American governing body CONMEBOL asked FIFA to fast-track the increase of men’s World Cup teams from 32 to 48, 2022 host Qatar said it wants to have talks with FIFA to discuss the logistics of increasing the feld four years earlier than planned. FIFA President Gianni Infantino has said he is receptive to CONMBEOL’s request but acknowledged a feasibility study is needed. Qatar’s infrastructure, which is being rapidly developed to cope with the World Cup, will already be stretched by the requirements of staging the Middle East’s first World Cup. Growing the tournament would see the number of games rise from 64 to 80. The tiny desert nation has only eight stadiums planned for the event and expanding the tournament might work only if the additional games are shared in the region . . . Spanish third-division club Toledo says Tunisian forward Lassad Nouioui was hospitalized after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday. The 32-year-old is in intensive care after falling unconscious during practice. The club says Nouioui is in stable condition and will remain in the hospital for 48 hours for additional tests. sboasia

BASEBALL
Rockies’ Arenado drops suspension appeal
Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado dropped his appeal and started serving his five-game suspension in Washington for his part in Wednesday’s brawl with San Diego. Major League Baseball handed down the punishment after Arenado charged the mound after Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo threw a pitch behind his back during the Rockies’ 6-4 victory. Colorado outfielder Gerrado Parra is still appealing his four-game suspension from the incident . . . The Mariners activated designated hitter Nelson Cruz (sprained right ankle) from the 10-day disabled list. The slugger belted two home runs in his first six at-bats of the season before slipping on the dugout steps during Seattle’s opening homestand . . . The Athletics put righty reliever Liam Hendriks (right groin strain) on the 10-day disabled list and activated reliever Ryan Dull (strained right shoulder). Hendriks left Friday's series opener against Seattle in the middle of an at-bat in the eighth inning after throwing a pitch.

NBA
Michigan's Wagner says he’s entering draft
Michigan big man Moe Wagner has decided to forgo his senior season, announcing in an essay written for The Players’ Tribune that he is entering the NBA draft and will sign with an agent. He entered his name in the draft last year but later withdrew it. Wagner helped the Wolverines reach the NCAA title game earlier this month, where they lost to Villanova. The 6-foot-11, 245-pound German forward averaged 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds and made 39.4 percent of his 3-point shots last season . . . The Mavericks and Bulls won tiebreakers on Friday to put them in better positions ahead of the NBA draft lottery. The Mavericks won a tiebreaker with the Hawks after they shared the NBA’s third-worst record at 24-58. Dallas gets a 13.8 percent chance to win the lottery and Atlanta at 13.7, and should neither team move up, the Mavericks would pick one spot higher in the draft. Chicago and Sacramento both finished 27-55. They will have the same odds in the lottery, but the Bulls will be sixth and the Kings seventh if nobody jumps ahead of them and neither moves up. sboasia

MessagePosté le: Lun 16 Avr - 08:52 (2018)    Sujet du message: TRANSFER NEWS: MANCHESTER UNITED LINING UP SUMMER MOVE FOR H Répondre en citant

sbobet24 Manchester United are reportedly lining up a summer move to bring Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, who is valued at around £35 million.

According to The Mirror, Harry Maguire seems to be in line for a club upgrade after making his senior bow for England. Manchester United are lining up a summer move for the Englishman, who is valued at around £35 million by Leicester City and is on the radar of several top clubs, including rivals Manchester City.

Harry Maguire’s move from Hull City to Leicester City has thrust him even further into the spotlight. A mainstay for the Foxes, his performances have seen him being called up the senior England squad, with the player even making his senior debut for the Three Lions recently.

But, with great performance comes interest from great clubs. And that has exactly been the case with Maguire. The defender has been linked with both the Manchester clubs, with Manchester United now linked with a potential summer bid when the transfer window reopens.

Manchester United signed Victor Lindelof in the summer hoping that the left-heavy Swede will become the perfect companion in the middle for Eric Bailly. But, as we near the end of his maiden season in England, the centre-back is yet to establish himself as a regular at the back for United. sbobet24

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are ahead of the Swede in the pecking order. But, the English duo is likely to be on the chopping block come summer, with Jose Mourinho planning to clear some deadwood at the back before bringing in new players.

Maguire took Chris Smalling’s place within the senior England squad and as per reports, Manchester United are planning to replace Smalling with the Leicester City man at club level as well. The Red Devils are lining up a summer bid for the player, who is likely to cost around £35 million.

Harry Maguire will boost the English quota and is a player who already has Premier League experience, which would be a huge positive compared to the other targets on United’s mind.

Maguire might also relish the opportunity of joining a club as magnanimous as Manchester United and this looks like a move that could very well happen, unless Manchester City enter the chase. sbobet24

maxbet Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain beat 10-man Caen 3-1 in their Coupe de France semi-final to set up a final showdown with third-tier Les Herbiers. The capital club now have the chance to complete the domestic quadruple in next month's final when they come up against Les Herbiers, who beat Chambly on Tuesday.

PSG broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Mbappe fired in from close range before Ismael Diomande levelled things up just before the break. Unai Emery's side thought they had regained the lead two minutes into the second half when Edinson Cavani had the ball in the back of the net but the goal was disallowed for offside after a video review. maxbet

Mbappe then scored his 21st goal of the season in all competitions in the 81st minute. Diomande was sent off in the closing stages for a foul on Javier Pastore before Christopher Nkunku scored in the fifth minute of added time to put the result beyond doubt. maxbet

Jamie Vardy ready for Riyad Mahrez transfer speculation this summer

sbobet asia Jamie Vardy is prepared for speculation surrounding Riyad Mahrez's Leicester future to continue in the summer transfer window. Mahrez, who handed in a second transfer request in January to force through a move away from the club, was the subject of a cash-plus-player offer from Manchester City worth an estimated £60m on Deadline Day of the winter window.

However, Vardy insists he and his Leicester team-mates must not be distracted by the transfer fanfare surrounding Mahrez. "I think it's happened in the last four transfer windows, so we just get on with it," Vardy exclusively told Sky Sports News, when asked if he suspects another club will attempt to sign the winger. sbobet asia

"What happens will happen, we'll have to wait and see, obviously, until the transfer window." Vardy also sternly rejected speculation that the Leicester squad are displeased with boss Claude Puel, who is reportedly fighting to keep his job at the King Power Stadium. "There's no truth in that at all," Vardy added. "If you look in training everyday, and obviously the games, you can see the players are trying to implement exactly what he wants us to do.

When asked what Puel is like behind closed doors, he said: "He's thoughtful about this football, but obviously behind the scenes, on the training field he's telling you exactly what he wants you to be doing, what you should be doing and every so often, to be fair to him, he gets involved in a few saucy challenges." sbobet asia
